About Coach Seth McClung
With over 25 years of experience as a professional baseball player, coach, and consultant, Seth McClung has established a distinguished career at nearly every level of the sport. From 1999 to 2014, he appeared in 177 Major League games, pitching over 430 innings, and facing just under 2,000 big-league hitters, including postseason appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2008 National League Division Series. Throughout a 16-year professional playing career, Seth McClung competed in 398 games and pitched more than 1,222 innings across organizations including the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, Florida Marlins, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. His international tenure included seasons in both the Mexican League and the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan.
Following his playing days, Seth McClung built a highly successful coaching and consulting career. He has personally trained elite athletes, including MLB star Yoan Moncada, and contributed to major contract negotiations. As a coach, he has led teams at the high school and travel levels to historic achievements, including district titles, state playoff appearances, and national rankings—all while emphasizing player development, college exposure, and mentorship. Notably, as Head Coach at Tarpon Springs High School, his teams achieved the program’s best records in over a decade, sent numerous players on to collegiate baseball, and earned him multiple Coach of the Year honors. He is also the founder and director of Florida Gulf Coast Prospects, a nationally competitive travel program known for developing top youth talent.
In addition to baseball, Seth McClung has coached successful basketball programs at the high school and collegiate levels, directing teams to state championships and NCAA tournament appearances. His broad expertise spans athlete development, team management, program building, and sports consulting, making him a respected leader in the athletic community.
